February: Greater Wilmington Beer Week
Beer lovers will find plenty to celebrate during Greater Wilmington Beer Week, a weeklong tribute to the region’s craft brewing scene. Participating breweries and restaurants host special events, beer releases, tastings, and food pairings throughout the week. Visitors can also take part in the Beer Week Passport Contest. Simply visit participating venues, collect stamps on your passport, and submit a photo of the completed passport for a chance to win prizes, including gift certificates and the grand prize: The Ultimate Beer Tour. March: St. Paddy’s Loop
Celebrate St. Patrick’s Day in Wilmington with one of the city’s biggest nightlife events: the St. Paddy’s Loop. April: Wilmington City Restaurant Week
Each spring, Wilmington’s culinary community comes together for City Restaurant Week, inviting diners to explore the city’s acclaimed restaurant scene through special prix-fixe menus. Unlike many cities, Wilmington’s restaurant landscape is dominated by owner-operated establishments, meaning the chefs and restaurateurs behind each venue are often directly involved in creating the experience. Participating restaurants offer $20 lunches and $35 or $55 dinners, giving guests a chance to sample everything from Asian and French cuisine to Italian and contemporary American dishes.
April: Red, White & Brew Loop
New for 2026, the Red, White & Brew Loop celebrates the spirit of Delaware 250 and America 250 with a patriotic night out in Wilmington.
Guests are encouraged to wear red, white, and blue as participating nightlife venues unite for a festive bar crawl-style celebration. A one-time cover grants entry to all participating clubs for the evening, making it easy to explore Wilmington’s nightlife scene while celebrating America’s upcoming semi quincentennial.
Late Spring Events
May: Wilmington Grand Prix
Cycling fans from across the country travel to Wilmington each year for the Wilmington Grand Prix, one of the premier criterium-style bike races in the United States. The action begins Friday night with the Monkey Hill Time Trial in Brandywine Park. Saturday features the Major Taylor Community Ride along with professional and amateur races through downtown Wilmington. Sunday brings two signature rides: the Governor’s Ride and the Delaware Gran Fondo, which attracts cyclists from across the United States and around the world for a scenic journey through the Brandywine Valley’s historic landscapes.
Early Summer Events
June: Greater Wilmington Pizza Week
Local pizza shops take center stage during Greater Wilmington Pizza Week, a celebration encouraging diners to “Try a New Pie.” Participating pizzerias showcase specialty creations and signature favorites throughout the week. Visitors can track their tastings using the Pizza Week Pie Tracker and submit their completed card for a chance to win prizes, including gift certificates to participating restaurants.
June: Separation Day
Separation Day is one of Delaware’s longest-running traditions, celebrating the state’s independence from both Pennsylvania and the British Crown. Held annually in Historic New Castle, the event features a full weekend of festivities. Friday evening kicks off the celebration with music, food, and drinks in the town center. Saturday begins with a Colonial-inspired parade, followed by children’s rides, artisan and vintage markets, live music, and community food vendors. The day concludes with a spectacular fireworks display over the Delaware River.
In 2026, Separation Day will take on special significance as Delaware celebrates the 250th anniversary of its independence, making this year’s event part of the statewide Delaware 250 and America 250 commemorations.
June: Rumble on Rodney
Another exciting addition to the 2026 calendar, Rumble on Rodney brings a USA Boxing–sanctioned event to downtown Wilmington. Held in Rodney Square, the event features amateur boxing bouts showcasing top regional fighters, along with live music and dance performances. The evening concludes with a dazzling post-fight drone show, making it one of the most unique new events in Wilmington.

July: Fourth of July Celebrations

July: Newark Food & Brew Festival
The Downtown Newark Food & Brew Festival is a summer tradition celebrating the connection between culinary creativity and craft brewing. Unlike most beer festivals, this event takes place inside Newark’s restaurants, where guests travel from venue to venue sampling featured beers paired with dishes designed to complement each brew. With more than 40 beers and countless food offerings, it’s a flavorful way to explore Newark’s dining scene.

September: Brandywine Valley Restaurant Week
Food lovers can experience some of the region’s best dining during Brandywine Valley Restaurant Week, when participating restaurants offer special prix-fixe menus at appealing prices. Because many of the participating venues are owner-operated restaurants, diners often have the opportunity to meet the chefs behind the menus. With two-course lunches for $20 and dinners for $35 or $55, the week offers the perfect excuse to discover a new favorite restaurant.
October: River Towns Ride & Festival
Cyclists and outdoor enthusiasts can explore the scenic waterways of the region during the River Towns Ride & Festival. The ride connects the historic waterfront communities of New Castle, Delaware City, Wilmington, and Chesapeake City, Maryland, allowing participants to earn medals based on distance completed. After the ride, cyclists gather for a celebration overlooking the Delaware River at Dolly Spanker’s in Delaware City.
October: Taste of Trolley Square
