Breweries, Pubs & Taverns in Wilmington &
the Brandywine Valley
Delaware’s brewery scene is famous beyond our borders — and rightly so. Spearheaded by Dogfish Head, the landscape of microbrewers has exploded, as innovative breweries have cropped up across the state.
In Wilmington and the Brandywine Valley, we’re proud of Wilmington Brew Works, Dew Point Brewing Company and Autumn Arch Beer Project for their mix of great beer, great food (whether made on site or served from rotating food trucks) and a laid-back atmosphere.
Great beer selections can also be found at Chelsea Tavern in downtown Wilmington, Catherine Rooney’s Irish Pub in Trolley Square, the seasonal Constitution Yards Beer Garden at the Riverfront, BBC Tavern & Grill in Greenville and Buckley's Tavern in Centreville.
Our taverns aren’t just friendly places to spend some time and knock back a pint — they’re downright historic. The three-hundred-year-old building that houses Jessop's Tavern in Historic New Castle also holds the state’s most amazing lineup of Belgian beers. Cantwell's Tavern in the historic town of Odessa, Delaware was built in 1822 and used to welcome ship captains and visitors to this former port town. And Edgar Allen Poe once stayed the night at the Deer Park Tavern, a landmark in the college town of Newark, Delaware that was built in 1851.
