When we look at holidays past, we love to look at visitors who fell in love with our area unexpectedly. One couple couldn’t have raved more about finding Greater Wilmington for a quick, holiday weekend to get away from their everyday.

Alexa and Cass of @TwoFemmeGems came in from Washington D.C. to explore Wilmington’s holiday fun!

Here is Where They Went:

Holidays at Nemours Estate comes but once a year...
The famed estate closes its doors for a week before Thanksgiving to redecorate the mansion from the inside out. Once those wreaths go up on the gates, everyone knows it’s time to celebrate the season like a du Pont. Nemours Estate takes to the du Pont family archives to display formal dining sets, decorations, and more to showcase the holidays throughout the mansion.

Historic New Castle dressed in its holiday attire...
The charming colonial neighborhood of Historic New Castle shines bright for the holiday season. The historic homes, cobblestone streets and impeccable local attractions and restaurant choices are only the beginning of the Spirit of Christmas throughout this historic town.

Brandywine Critter Sale is a can’t miss...
The Brandywine Museum of Art is well known for housing a collection of Wyeth family art but throughout the holiday season it’s also home of the Critters! Critters are distinctive ornaments and tabletop decorations handmade by museum volunteers using natural materials making for the perfect gift or a unique addition to your Christmas décor.

Here is Where They Stayed:

Sheraton Suites in Downtown Wilmington is the perfect location to lay your head after a full day exploring Wilmington and the Brandywine Valley. The hotel is located just a few blocks from Market Street, the main strip in downtown with dining options such as Bardea Steak, Wilma's and the new restaurant inside downtown’s first boutique hotel, the Quoin. The hotel is also close to local boutiques like Morgan’s of Delaware and Town & Shore Handcrafted for tax-free shopping, perfect for a new holiday wardrobe or to bring home the perfect gift for someone you love.
