Are you a runner? An inspiring runner? A fan?
The Delaware Marathon Running Festival is back for its 19th year. If you plan to run the course, you can choose from a full marathon, half-marathon, a 4-person relay, a 5k or kids fun run - all benefiting area charities. Don’t worry, if you’re just there to watch your fellow running enthusiasts, join the festivities at the start/finish line set up at Tubman-Garrett Riverfront Park. There you will find a great party with live music, vendors and activities for the whole family!
“The course has a lot of variety and gives visitors a tour of many of the most interesting and beautiful parts of the city,” said one past participant from Pennsylvania.
The race travels across beautiful Brandywine Park on the Brandywine River, along prestigious parkways, through historic Wilmington neighborhoods, and past downtown’s Rodney Square. The second half of the full marathon course runs along the Jack A. Markell Trail starting at the Du Pont Environmental Education Center overlooking the gorgeous Riverfront neighborhood. You can’t ask for better views to pass the time while you run.
Whether you are planning to jog your way through the half marathon or proudly trot through the full, Wilmington and the Brandywine Valley is here for you at the finish line!
