From hands-on creativity to summer evenings along the Brandywine and beloved holiday traditions, Hagley Museum and Library offers a dynamic lineup of events throughout 2026. Set across its scenic riverfront grounds and historic buildings, Hagley’s seasonal programming invites visitors of all ages to explore innovation, industry, and the stories that shaped America. All while enjoying one of Delaware’s most beautiful landscapes.

Here’s a look at what’s ahead during Hagley’s 2026 season.

Kid Inventors’ Weekend
February 14–16, 2026 | 10 a.m.–3 p.m.

Hagley kicks off the year by celebrating creativity and curiosity during Kid Inventors’ Weekend. Young innovators can dive into hands-on activities inspired by design, problem-solving, and early American ingenuity. Families can explore the Nation of Inventors exhibition, learn about the patent process, and watch robotics and LEGO teams demonstrate their impressive creations.

A highlight for budding inventors is the DuPont Discovery Loft, where kids can tinker with electronics, transform everyday “junk” into new inventions, and even submit ideas to the playful “Hagley Patent Office.” Best of all, children 14 and under receive free admission, making this a can’t-miss winter outing for families.

Hagley’s 5K Along the Brandywine
April 25, 2026 | Race begins at 8:30 a.m.

Spring arrives with Hagley’s eighth annual 5K and 1K Fun Run, winding along the Brandywine River through the museum’s historic grounds. Whether you’re a seasoned runner, casual walker, or participating with kids in the family-friendly 1K, this event blends fitness, fresh air, and philanthropy. Proceeds support free field trips for students from underserved schools, adding purpose to every step.

Summer Nights at Hagley
Wednesdays, June–August | 5–8 p.m.

Summer Wednesdays at Hagley are all about unwinding. Stroll “the most beautiful mile” along the Brandywine, enjoy picnics or local food trucks, sip Dogfish Head craft beer, and cool off with Woodside Farm Creamery ice cream. With live entertainment, open green space, and dogs welcome on leashes, Summer Nights offer a relaxed, community-focused way to enjoy Hagley after hours.

Hagley Car Show
September 20, 2026 | 10 a.m.–3 p.m.

Often called the best car show in Delaware, the Hagley Car Show brings together more than 500 antique and restored vehicles spanning the early 1900s through the late 1990s. Special feature fields, a vehicle parade, motoring music, and food trucks fill the grounds with energy.

Car enthusiasts can also explore Du Ponts Down the Road inside the 1844 Hagley Barn, showcasing historic vehicles owned by the du Pont family—from horse-drawn carriages to early electric cars. Admission is sold by the carload and must be purchased in advance.

Hagley Craft Fair
October 17–18, 2026

This popular fall tradition brings artisans from across the Mid-Atlantic to Hagley’s grounds for a weekend of shopping and inspiration. Browse handcrafted works in wood, pottery, jewelry, textiles, metal, and gourmet foods, all set against Hagley’s picturesque autumn scenery—perfect for early holiday shopping or a crisp October day out.

Holidays at Hagley
November 27, 2026 – January 1, 2027

The year concludes with one of Hagley’s most beloved traditions. During Holidays at Hagley, Eleutherian Mills is transformed with seasonal décor inspired by the French holiday traditions of the du Pont family. Each year brings a new theme, but the heart of the experience remains the same: celebrating family, home, and the warmth of shared traditions.

Holiday Nights at Hagley
December 8, 10, 15 & 17, 2026

For a truly magical experience, Holiday Nights offer evening tours of Eleutherian Mills illuminated by soft, glowing lights. Guests can also view entries from Hagley’s annual Gingerbread House Contest and enjoy post-tour refreshments and holiday shopping at the Hagley Store.

With a full calendar spanning winter creativity, spring fitness, summer evenings, fall festivals, and festive holiday traditions, Hagley Museum’s 2026 season offers something for every interest and every age. Whether you’re visiting for a single event or planning multiple trips throughout the year, Hagley continues to inspire visitors to connect with history, and each other, along the Brandywine.
