Expat - Mezzanine GalleryA Reflection on Connection and Shared Strength

In Community, Bracey’s figurative paintings explore what she describes as “people capacity,” the strength, grace, and potential that emerge when individuals come together to support one another and inspire change. Each painting in the series is titled after a real or historical role in society, highlighting the many ways communities are shaped by people who uplift others. Through expressive portraits and vibrant color, Bracey invites viewers to reflect on how individual stories intersect to form a larger collective narrative.

Themes of mental and spiritual wellness run throughout the exhibition, emphasizing the role art can play in fostering empathy, self-awareness, and deeper human connection.

An Artist Inspired by People and PurposeGardner - Mezzanine Gallery

Bracey’s artistic journey began in childhood while watching her father draw, a simple moment that sparked a lifelong creative pursuit. After reconnecting with her passion for art in the 1990s, she pursued formal training at both Delaware College of Art and Design and the Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts. She describes her artistic style as “classical realism with a Fauvist kick,” blending traditional portrait techniques with bold, expressive color. Beyond the studio, Bracey’s work has been shaped by a diverse professional background that includes teaching art to at-risk youth and working in healthcare — experiences that inform her focus on empathy, resilience, and community care.
