A Mystery Season Opener Kicks Things Off 

The season begins in September with a comedy-drama title that will officially be announced on June 29. Directed by Joseph Pukatsch, the production runs September 4–13 and launches the season with intrigue and anticipation. 

Into the Woods Comes to Wilmington in Two Unique Productions 

This fall, audiences can experience two versions of Stephen Sondheim’s beloved musical Into the Woods. The season includes: 

Into the Woods 50+ — directed by Liz Hazlett and running October 8–11 
Into the Woods Jr. — directed by Lauren Vitalo and running October 15–18 

These productions bring fresh interpretations of the fairytale-inspired musical while spotlighting performers of different generations. 

Powerful Drama Takes Center Stage with The Christians 

Winner of the 2016 Obie Award for Best Play, The Christians arrives at Wilmington Drama League November 6–15 under the direction of Dominic Santos. Known for its thought-provoking themes and emotionally charged storytelling, the play explores faith, leadership, and community through a contemporary lens. 

Holiday Fun Arrives with Shrek the Musical 

Just in time for the holiday season, the lovable green ogre takes the stage in Shrek the Musical. Directed by Ray Crozier, this family-friendly musical adaptation of the hit animated film runs December 11–30 and promises laughs, adventure, and favorite characters audiences know and love. 

Laugh Along with Nunsense 

The classic musical comedy Nunsense arrives January 22–31 under the direction of Jason Messinger. Packed with comedy, music, and over-the-top antics, this longtime audience favorite continues to charm theatergoers decades after its debut.

Celebrating Local Theater Through the Ruby M. Stanley One-Act Festival 

The annual Ruby M. Stanley One-Act Festival returns February 5–6, showcasing short-form theatrical performances and local creative talent. 

A Dark Broadway Favorite Returns with Sweeney Todd 

One of Broadway’s most iconic musicals arrives in March as Sweeney Todd takes the stage March 5–14. Directed by Zachary Gurock, this haunting and thrilling production follows the infamous Demon Barber of Fleet Street through one of musical theater’s most legendary scores. 

Steve Martin’s The Underpants Brings the Laughs 

Comedy fans can look forward to The Underpants, a fast-paced farce directed by Jenna Cole. Running April 1–4, the production delivers the witty humor and absurd situations audiences expect from Steve Martin. 

Set Sail with Titanic 

The emotional and sweeping musical Titanic arrives April 30–May 9 under the direction of Lauren Gates. Featuring a soaring score and powerful storytelling, the musical explores the lives and dreams aboard the legendary ship. 

The Season Ends with the Revolutionary Rock Musical Hair 

Closing out the season is the groundbreaking rock musical Hair, directed by Patrick Murray. Running June 4–13, the iconic production celebrates music, freedom, and counterculture while bringing one of Broadway’s most influential musicals to Wilmington audiences.
