Borrow & Ride: Bike Helmet Loaner Program
Planning to rent a bike and explore the sights along the Jack A. Markell Trail—from Wilmington’s Riverfront to Historic New Castle? Make your ride safer by borrowing a free helmet!
Follow these easy steps:
1. Visit a Helmet Loan Location
Stop by one of the participating locations listed below.
2. Bring a Valid ID or Credit Card
Present your driver’s license or credit card to borrow a helmet. This is just to hold on file—there’s no charge unless the helmet is not returned.
3. Pick the Right Fit
Helmets are available in both adult and child sizes to ensure a safe and comfortable fit.
4. Ride and Enjoy
Use the helmet for the duration of your bike rental. Enjoy sightseeing, recreation, and cultural stops along the trail.
5. Return the Helmet the Same Day
Helmets must be returned to the same location on the same day to avoid late fees.

920 Justison Street, Suite 5 Wilmington, DE 19801. At Dravo Plaza, across from the Homewood Suites. Helmets must be returned 30 minutes prior to closing.

New Castle Court House Museum
211 Delaware Street New Castle, DE 19720. Helmets must be returned 30 minutes prior to closing. Use the door to the right when facing the front of the Court House.
