The Annual Mushroom Festival is a celebration of Kennett Square's #1 Crop -- the Mushroom. The Street Fair runs about one mile through town with nearly 250 craft and food vendors. Special events include the National Fried Mushroom Eating Championship, the Antique and Classic Car Show and the Amateur Mushroom Cook-Off on Saturday and the Mushroom Run Walk and the Soup and Wine Event on Sunday. Both days guests may visit the Growers' Exhibit to learn about the mushroom-growing process and the Culinary Tent where celebrity, regional and local chefs give cooking demonstrations. Other events both days include the Painted Mushroom Silent Auction, the Cute-As-A-Button Baby Photo Contest, Children's Entertainment, the Old Fashioned Carnival, and Live Music on the Community Stage. Visitors can also purchase fresh mushrooms direct from our local farms to bring home. At the Mushroom Festival there's Mushrooms galore and a whole lot more! Hours: Saturday 10am-7pm, Sunday 10am-5pm
The Mission of The Mushroom Festival is to promote the mushroom, educate consumers about the health benefits of mushrooms and to promote tourism in Southern Chester County, all while financially supporting local and regional charities through a grant process.
