The Annual Auburn Heights Egg Hunt

Friday, April 3 & Saturday, April 4, 12–3 p.m.   

Spring at the Marshall Steam Museum kicks off with an egg-cellent Easter tradition on the scenic grounds of Auburn Heights Mansion. Families are invited to hunt for eggs across the historic lawn, take a ride along the rails, and enjoy lunch from on-site food trucks. Little ones can snap a festive photo with the Easter Bunny, just don’t forget to bring your basket! This popular springtime event sells out quickly, so advance registration and payment are required. 

Member ticket sales begin February 23rd. General public ticket sales open March 2nd. 

Train Day

Sunday, May 3, 12:30–4:30 p.m.   

Train lovers of all ages won’t want to miss Train Day, a celebration dedicated entirely to the magic of railroads. Spend the day riding the Auburn Valley Railroad, exploring hands-on train activities, and discovering special railroad displays throughout the grounds. Highlights include a working telegraph station, a vintage railroad exhibit, and a display of historic railroad tools. It’s an immersive, family-friendly event that brings rail history to life in a fun, approachable way.

The best way to experience everything the Marshall Steam Museum has to offer is during a monthly Steamin’ Day. Visitors can climb into antique automobiles, ride multiple steam-powered trains, and explore the Auburn Heights Mansion while learning how people traveled at the turn of the 20th century. With interactive experiences designed for all ages—from toddlers to lifelong history buffs—Steamin’ Days offer a hands-on, unforgettable look at Delaware’s steam-powered past.
