Wilmington, Delaware’s minor league baseball team, the Wilmington Blue Rocks, is set to play their 30th season at Frawley Stadium beginning this April. The Blue Crew will kick off their milestone season at home on Friday, April 8 against the Brooklyn Cyclones (New York Mets) and have added an extra layer of entertainment to nearly every home game.  

The 2022 season will bring 12 post-game fireworks shows, a handful of family-themed nights, and plenty of giveaways – 36 to be exact!  

Opening Weekend Celebration!  

April 8 (Opening Day!) - Fans will receive a 2022 schedule magnet as they enter the gates and throughout the game will be able to enjoy the antics of “Mad Chad the Chainsaw Juggler!” The night will be capped off with the first post-game fireworks extravaganza of 2022!  

April 9 - The first 1,000 fans through the gates will receive a replica stadium blueprint giveaway. For the over 21 crowd, be sure to grab yourselves $3 Truly Hard Seltzer cans during Happy Hour from 5:30-7:00 PM!  

April 10 – The first Sunday of the season will mark the return of “Sunday Family Fun Days” at Frawley Stadium. Gates will open extra early (around 11:30 AM) for the 1:05 PM matchup, allowing fans the opportunity to play catch in the outfield! Plus, make sure the kiddos stick around after the game and run the bases – just like their favorite Blue Rocks player! 

April  

April 19 - The first 500 fans through the gates will receive a custom, limited-edition Blue Rocks t-shirt!  

April 22 – Frawley will welcome all fans who love the 90s! Millennials, it’s time to dust off those Tamagachi because the Blue Crew will be celebrating the iconic decade all game long - complete with music, games, trivia, plenty of throwback memories, and a glassware giveaway to the first 1,000 fans! 

May  

May 8 - All princes and princesses should report to the ballpark with their favorite ladies for Mother’s Day festivities. The afternoon will feature special appearances by some favorite enchanted characters! 

May 19 - Nine Innings of Networking will makes its return to Frawley, for the first of two networking and job fair events.  

May 21 - A reversible bucket hat giveaway for the team’s “Back to the Beach” themed game.  

May 22 – Come out to the park for the stadium’s annual “Blue-Out” game and interact with the lovable Elmo making an appearance during Sesame Street Sunday, courtesy of friends at Sesame Place and Sesame Workshop. 

June  

June 19 – Take dad, grandpas and buddies and play catch in the outfield – and celebrate the “Moose with the Most” – Rocky Bluewinkle! Rocky will celebrate his birthday with all his mascot pals.  Wilmington Blue Rocks-Rocky Bullwinkle

 

In June, celebrate diversity alongside The Blue Crew with the first two of four heritage nights in the stadium’s “Heritage Series.” The first 500 fans will receive a custom heritage t-shirt giveaway.  

  • Italian Heritage Night -  Thursday, June 16  
  • Latin American Heritage Night - Thursday, June 23  

 

The remaining two Heritage Series games will occur in August. Come out to Jewish Heritage Night - Tuesday, August 2 and Irish Heritage Night - Tuesday, August 9 

July  

July 1 - Blue Rocks Independence Day Celebration! A grand fireworks display will take place immediately following the game.  

July 2 - The first 1,000 fans through the gates will receive a “fauxback” trucker-style baseball cap!  

Of course, annual bobbleheads always reign supreme when it comes to ballpark giveaways... Commemorating 30 years of amazing baseball history, the Blue Rocks will present two historic bobblehead giveaways.  

July 23 - The annual “Celerybration”! Get to the stadium early and honor the “Stalk with the Walk,” the man, the myth, the legend himself – Mr. Celery! The first 1,000 fans through the gates will get their hands on a very limited-edition Mr. Celery tee! 

July 30 – The Blue Rocks will honor Jon Lieber who threw the very first pitch inside Frawley Stadium in 1993 and went on to become the first Blue Rock to debut in Major League Baseball.

August 12 – Scout Night Sleepover makes its anticipated return for the season. Following the game, it'll be time to camp out under the stars in the outfield!  

August 13 - After winning a fan-vote contest on social media, Mike Sweeney will be featured on the Blue Rocks’ second bobblehead doll giveaway – be sure not to miss this unique prize! 

August 26 - “Wrestling Night” - Learn more about special appearances in the coming weeks here.  

August 27 – As summer quickly comes to an end try to enjoy “Back to School Night.” This game will feature a backpack giveaway for the first 1,000 fans! 

August 28 - Enjoy another family-themed night with “My Little Pony Night” featuring Twilight Sparkle and Pinkie Pie! 

September 

September 9 - Solemnly swear that you are up to no good and make sure to come on out to the ballpark for “Wizardry Night” Enjoy Butterbeer, spells, games and more! 

September 10 - The Blue Rocks will pay tribute to the namesake of their playing field by honoring Negro Leagues Baseball legend, Judy Johnson. The first 1,000 fans through the gates will receive a commemorative baseball giveaway. The evening will also feature countless Negro Leagues Baseball player profiles, ceremonies and recognitions. 

September 11 - Don’t forget to say “WOO-HOO” as the 2022 season wraps up with “Fan Appreciation Day.” The first 1,000 fans will receive a Mr. Celery knit beanie cap giveaway. Stick around and bid on game-worn jerseys for a chance to take home a piece of Blue Rocks history!

New for the 2022 season, The Prospect Poster Series. On five select Sunday home games, the first 1,000 fans through the gates will receive a poster giveaway of a current top Washington Nationals prospect who is playing with the Blue Rocks.

Day of the Week’ promotions that fans have come to know, and love will also be back for the 2022 season. 

  • Tuesdays: ‘Bark in the Park’! Take your favorite pups out to the ball game and buy them some peanuts and crackerjacks or, just maybe a treat or two. 
  • Wednesdays: Wet Your Whistle Wednesdays: $2 Miller Lite cans from 5:30-7:00 pm 
  • Thursdays: Beer:30: $3 Dogfish Head cans from 5:30-7:00 pm 
  • Fridays: Post-Game Fireworks: Every Friday home game
