Downtown Wilmington is turning up the volume on creativity, women empowerment, and community this spring as the Ladybug Music Festival returns with an expanded week of programming leading into one of the region’s most beloved music festivals. Known as the largest free women-led music festival in the United States, the Ladybug Music Festival has become a signature Wilmington tradition, celebrating women in music while bringing thousands of visitors to Market Street each year. For 2026, the festival experience grows even larger with the addition of Women’s Week. A multi-day series of events focused on storytelling, wellness, creativity, leadership, and connection, all leading up to the main festival on Saturday, May 30.

What is Women’s Week? 

Presented as an extension of the Ladybug Music Festival mission, Women’s Week features experiences designed to bring together women across music, business, wellness, creativity, and community.  

Throughout the week, visitors can take part in: 

  • Film screenings and storytelling events

Her Lens: Stories by Women on Screen (May 26, 2026)

Women’s Week begins with a film-focused evening in partnership with the Wilmington International Film Festival, spotlighting storytelling and representation through the lens of women creators. 

Art x Assets: Creativity, Wealth + Ownership (May 27, 2026) 

This unique event explores the intersection of creativity and entrepreneurship, highlighting how women build businesses, sustain artistic careers, and invest in their futures. 

TEDxWilmingtonWomen  (May 28, 2026)

A returning favorite, TEDxWilmingtonWomen brings together speakers, innovators, and storytellers for an evening centered on leadership, ideas, and lived experiences. 

UnConference: Women’s Health & Wellness (May 29, 2026) 

This collaborative wellness experience focuses on whole-person health, creating space for conversations around physical, mental, and community wellbeing.

The week culminates on Saturday, May 30, 2026, when the Ladybug Music Festival takes over downtown Wilmington with a full day of live performances, community energy, and celebration. 

The free festival features:

  • Local vendors and artisans 
  • Food and drink specials

Since launching in 2012, Ladybug has evolved into a nationally recognized event that celebrates diversity in genre, community connection, and women’s voices in music.
