Season 2 of the Bureau’s Bitts and Bites of Greater Wilmington video series launches with an inside look at the Delaware Art Museum.

The Delaware Art Museum was founded in 1912 by a diverse group of Delaware residents. Some were artists, some were entrepreneurs and businessmen and women of Wilmington but all were friends of Howard Pyle. After Pyle’s unexpected death, his friends formed the Wilmington Society of the Fine Arts to preserve and share his work. Over the past 100 years, the museum has become known for its British Pre-Raphaelite collection, the Howard Pyles exhibit and John Sloan urban landscapes. The museum has since become such an integral part of the community and throughout the last decade has strategically focused on acquiring works by women artists and artists of color.
