Every winter, Longwood Gardens transforms into one of the most breathtaking holiday destinations in the country, and this year, it’s shining brighter than ever. From November 21, 2025, through January 11, 2026, A Longwood Christmas returns with a theme inspired by glittering gemstones, radiant light, and timeless holiday elegance.

Step inside Longwood’s Conservatories and find yourself surrounded by shimmering trees dressed in sapphire blues, ruby reds, emerald greens, and golden metallics. Hanging crystals, rich fabrics, and gemstone-inspired lighting create an atmosphere that feels both luxurious and full of wonder.

In the iconic Music Room, the “Gilded Gala” centerpiece steals the show. The centerpiece features a 12-foot Fraser fir rising from a jewel box, crowned with a ruby-red bow and surrounded by sparkling ornaments and golden décor. The space even features real mineral specimens on loan from the Delaware Museum of Nature and Science, blending natural beauty with holiday artistry. Nearby, a charming holiday jewelry shop display offers elegant gifts curated from Longwood’s Garden Shop.

Horticultural Splendor Indoors and Out

Throughout the Conservatories, thousands of poinsettias, amaryllis, and paperwhites, fill the air with color and fragrance. Living wreaths, succulent “crystals,” and hanging baskets of white poinsettias showcase Longwood’s legendary creativity. Eight trees decorated by regional art organizations, including Wilmington’s Bellefonte Arts, bring local craftsmanship and community spirit to the display.

Outdoors, the magic continues with over half a million twinkling lights, oversized gem-inspired sculptures floating on the Large Lake, and ribbons of light leading the way through the gardens.

Stop by the Wildlife Tree, adorned with pearls, gilded oyster shells, and seaweed garlands—complete with daily treats for local birds and woodland creatures. Kids will love the return of the Garden Railway and the glowing Meadow Tunnel, while visitors of all ages can enjoy fountain shows synchronized to holiday music at the Open-Air Theatre.

Dining & Holiday Treats

Make your visit even more memorable with “Taste of Christmas” at The Fountain Room held Dec. 21–24 and 26–30. This grand buffet of sweet and savory dishes, carving stations, desserts, and a hot chocolate bar will be a highlight for the whole family.

For a fine dining experience, the 1906 Restaurant offers a holiday prix fixe menu inspired by the region’s finest ingredients. Think lobster, Green Circle chicken, and prime beef carpaccio, each dish plated like a jewel.

The Café and Beer Garden add to the cheer with seasonal fare, local brews, and festive treats perfect for a stroll through the illuminated gardens.

Gifts That Sparkle

And if you’re still looking for those hard-to-shop-for individuals on your list, the Garden Shop will be filled with home décor, handcrafted art, and plant-inspired treasures. Or, better yet, give the gift of experience with a Longwood Membership, offering a year of beauty, conservation, and joy.
