Throughout the fall months, adventures in Wilmington and the Brandywine Valley are a must! The weather is cooler, the sun shines wonderfully, and the beautiful foliage changes to gorgeous hues of reds and yellows. The weather alone makes us want to get out and explore, never mind the nonstop things to do in and around town. We’ve narrowed the list of fall activities to six can’t-miss adventures to take when you #VisitWilm.
#1 Go to a Pumpkin Patch
A pumpkin patch is the perfect way to start your fall adventure off on the right foot. Whether it be for the Instagram-worthy photos or some seasonal fun with the little ones, a trip to a pumpkin patch is always first on everyone's fall bucket list. With the overwhelming amount of pumpkins sold in stores... there really is only the best in the patch at Ramsey's Farm. But don't take our word for it. Check out the fun to be had with a visit to one of Wilmington's favorite farms on their Instagram. Corn mazes, hayrides, pumpkins and more!!
#2 Hike Through Fall Foliage
Greater Wilmington is full of beautiful parks and trails that change to immaculate visions of color throughout the autumn season. If you're in need of that perfect backdrop for a special occasion or just love the view of the changing hues, #VisitWilm is the perfect fall getaway for you.
#3 Go on a Fall Picnic
Whether you want to head to Coverdale Farm Preserve to grab some goodies from their market and set out a blanket overlooking the rolling hills, or take to one of the many Delaware State Parks throughout Greater Wilmington with a picnic lunch for the family, you can't go wrong! A picnic is the perfect day out to celebrate the season. Have you ever thought about a pop-up picnic? Harp and Hare, a women-owned company designs picnics to fit all occasions. All you have to do is choose the location and theme... they take care of the rest! Special question to ask? A unique family fun afternoon? Girl's Weekend? There are endless possibilities to enjoy. Check them out on Instagram!
#4 Take a Fall Foliage Road Trip
Enjoy an unforgettable road trip throughout Wilmington and the Brandywine Valley with gorgeous views! Mid to late October brings the peak leaf peeping to its maximum but colors change as early as the end of September around #VisitWilm. Once the weather breaks, a road trip is a can't-miss item to check off those bucket lists. The changing colors, attractions like Winterthur Museum, Garden and Library and Nemours Estate to peep into, and amazing restaurants to try like Bardea Steak and Krazy Kats, make for the perfect road trip - now you just have to decide who's doing the driving.
Don’t forget to snap some photos along the way.
