This year, 4th of July weekend in Greater Wilmington offers spectacular firework displays. Here’s where the sparks will fly July 4th.  

FireworksFreedom Fireworks at UD Athletic Complex 

Enjoy a beautiful display of color in the sky at the University of Delaware. Vendors and entertainment will begin at 6:00 p.m. and the fireworks show will begin at dusk, approximately 9:15 p.m., and will wrap up around 10:00 p.m. The show will be visible from the FREE parking lots throughout the complex. 

Festivities & Fireworks at Tubman Garrett Park 

Back after a few years off, are the Riverfront fireworks! Mayor Mike Purzycki and Cultural Affairs Director, Tina Betz, invite all to enjoy the return of the City's Annual Independence Day fireworks show. A fun-filled day (and evening) for the whole family. Starting at 2:00 p.m. enjoy live music, delicious food, and activities for all ages to enjoy. You can even take a tour of the Kalmar Nyckel Tall Ship! The fireworks display will begin shortly after 9:00 p.m. 

Fireworks Express on the Wilmington and Western  

Grab the family for a unique experience on board the Wilmington and Western Railroad. Get front row seats to the incredible fireworks display held in Hockessin, Delaware - without the parking hassle. Reservations are required and tickets go quickly so be sure to grab them while you can. Note: This ride is roughly four hours and will depart promptly at 7:00 p.m. - Boarding will begin at 6:45 p.m.   

Passengers are welcome to bring coolers, blankets and folding chairs aboard. Allow 4 hours for the train ride and fireworks show. 

Hockessin Fireworks  

If you’re not on board the Wilmington & Western you can still enjoy the Hockessin fireworks display! Hockessin offers plenty of great restaurants to grab dinner before-hand and Swift Park offers a great view of the fireworks with space for blankets and chairs.  This year, the Hockessin fireworks are on July 4th.  Get there early as spots tend to fill up quickly. (Recommended viewing from Swift Park, Piedmont Baseball Fields, Hockessin Library, and Artesian Soccer Fields)
