2020 has been … well … intense. Super intense. Ready to give yourself (and your family) a much-needed break?

Our brand-new “3-2-1 Getaway” package is an excellent way to relax, recharge and have fun.

You and your family get free admission to three (3) of our top garden attractions if you stay two (2) nights at any participating hotel. It all adds up to one (1) great time!

“3-2-1 Getaway” includes admission for two adults and two children (ages 17 and under) to Hagley Museum and Library, Winterthur Museum, Garden and Library and Mt. Cuba Center. The package can be used any time between September 15, 2020 through November 22, 2020.

Fall is one of the best times to enjoy Greater Wilmington and the Brandywine Valley. When the leaves start to change, it is truly spectacular here. What’s great is that all three attractions included in the package have acres of meadows, trails and gardens where you can enjoy the brilliance of fall as your kids romp, roam and explore.

And, if you live in Delaware or pretty much anywhere in the Mid-Atlantic, we are just a short car ride away. You’ll feel like you’ve been transported to the French countryside even though you are so close to home.

Here’s a little bit about the three stops included in the package:

All are former du Pont family estates and gardens. For more than 200 years, the du Pont family name has been synonymous with Delaware. The DuPont Company started as a gunpowder manufacturer, later expanding into dynamite, paints, plastics, dyes and materials. Its scientists invented nylon, Kevlar and Teflon. Even two centuries later, the du Pont family’s contributions in the areas of art, culture and land preservation can be seen throughout Greater Wilmington and the Brandywine Valley.

Explore Three Amazing Attractions

Hagley Museum and Library is where the du Pont story begins. The original riverside gunpowder mills and workers’ quarters are located here as is the original du Pont family home and gardens. You can stroll its 235-acres and follow the Powder Yard Trail along the Brandywine Creek. A combination of science, scenery and industry, the trail brings the process of how DuPont Company brought blasting powder and gunpowder to life. The kiddos will love the cannon firing demos too!

Mt. Cuba Center is home to more than 1,000 native plants, many of which are threatened by extinction. Its 630 acres include historic pastures, fields, ponds, native forests, a woodland wildflower garden, and formal landscapes. There are lots of great nooks for a picnic here too. In July 2020, Mt. Cuba earned the title of “Best Botanical Garden” in USA Today's 10 Best Readers' Choice Awards.

At Winterthur Museum, Garden & Library, you can explore 1,000 acres of rolling hills, streams, meadows and forests. The reflecting pool (formerly the du Pont family swimming pool) is also a must-see.  The playful koi that call it home will come up to greet you if you approach the pool’s edge. And don’t forget to take a walk through the mystical Enchanted Woods. Your children will think they have been transported to the land of the fairies.
