From the opening oompahs of the Friday night parade at 7:00 PM until the last bratwurst is gone, the Delaware Saengerbund Oktoberfest is a three-day celebration of German food and culture...and beer. The "Enzian Volkstanzgruppe", the Baravian dance group of the Delaware Saengerbund, performs in traditional costumes and German music is played throughout the festival. There are amusement rides and games, but the German food specialties--grilled Bratwurst, Weisswuurst, Frankfurters, BBQ chicken, pretzels, Rollmops, potato salad, sauerkraut and Toreten--are festival favorites. Off-site parking is available at Christiana High School and the $5.00 fee includes shuttle service.
