Plants with Winter Interest
A winter landscape has a beauty all its own. Colorful stems, uniquely textured bark, intricate branching patterns, and persistent berries and cones provide a wealth of visual interest throughout the winter. Learn the cultural requirements and ecological benefits of our native evergreen and deciduous trees, shrubs, and perennials that create naturally beautiful winter gardens. 10 am - noon, Friday, February 8. Mead Madness
Also known as honey wine, mead can be traced back more than 8,000 years and has some intriguing tales surrounding its history. Doc Cheskin of Liquid Alchemy Beverages discusses and demonstrates how mead is made, using both ancient and modern techniques, after which you sample a variety of products, including one made from Mt. Ecological Landscape Design
Learn how to measure, inventory, and analyze a site; then make a conceptual design and planting plan using the “right plant, right place” approach. Broaden your design perspective, increase biodiversity in the landscape with native plants, decrease space dedicated to lawn, and create habitats that benefit insects, birds, and other fauna. 1 - 4 pm, Thursday, February 14.
