The Delaware Agritourism Trail was created to showcase over 25 working farms throughout Delaware. Each of the four unique destinations captured here can be found in New Castle County, Delaware’s northern most county and offer different types of farm experiences, but all are ideal destinations for fall family fun.

Let's head out on the road and pay a visit to each of these four farms to see what they have in store for visitors.

Woodside Farm Creamery

One of the most popular stops on The Delaware Agritourism Trail is Woodside Farm Creamery, which is about half an hour west of downtown Wilmington near the Pennsylvania border. This fully functioning dairy farm has a track record dating all the way back to 1796, and today they have more than 30 Jersey cows producing milk for the creamery.

With almost 30 flavors to choose from, ice cream is king at the creamery. People come from all over to stock up on their favorite flavors because they know that the ice cream here is always made in small batches with plenty of attention to detail – a big reason Woodside Farms Creamery often finds itself among the top-rated ice cream shops in the country.

Woodside Farm Creamery is open from 12 pm to 7 pm from Friday to Sunday throughout the fall months.

Ramsey's Farm

First started all the way back in 1860, Ramsey’s Farm is a beautiful landscape and is also part of the First State National Historic Park! Since 1990 they have offered a Pick-Your-Own pumpkin patch that’s fun for the whole family! Of course, we cannot forget to mention the 10-acre corn maze that they create each year which is fun for family outings, parties and much more!

Ramsey’s Farm grows gourds, ornamental corn, popcorn, feed corn, hay, and over 50,000 pumpkins per year! The best time to visit is from 12 pm to 5 pm on Fridays and 9 am to 5 pm on Saturdays and Sundays. During October the pumpkin patch is open 12 pm to 5 pm on Fridays and 10 am to 5 pm on Saturdays and Sundays. Also, from 6 pm to 9 pm Fridays and Saturdays during October, Ramsey’s Farm holds night events for the whole family!

Coverdale Farm Preserve

Another beautiful farm in the area is the Coverdale Farm Preserve. It is 377-acres total, 200 acres are treated like a nature preserve and 177 acres are actively used for farming. They have events for hayrides, birthday parties, a farmers’ market and also a Thanksgiving turkey sale!

The best time to visit Coverdale Farm Preserve is from Friday to Sunday starting in April and running through November. A great place for families to have a blast and celebrate the fall season and holidays.

Coleman's Christmas Tree Farm

There aren't many activities that can create as many lasting memories as going out to get the family Christmas tree, and the place to do just that and more is Coleman's Christmas Tree farm, which is located about 40 minutes south of Wilmington.

Coleman’s Farm includes a gift shop with hundreds of reasonably priced gifts and tree ornaments. And from November 19 to Christmas, Coleman's will be open to Christmas tree hunters seeking to cut down the perfect pine.

McCarthy Tree FarmMcCarthy Tree Farm

If you are looking for a beautiful Christmas tree farm experience that will take your breath away, then McCarthy Tree Farm located in New Castle is the perfect destination. Sip hot apple cider, listen to Christmas music or check out the gift shoppe for ornaments, pottery, wreaths and much more!

This year the farm was unable to get pre-cut trees, but customers are still able to choose a tree to cut themselves. The farm will be open on Thanksgiving weekend (November 26th and 27th) and the first Saturday in December. Bring the family for a fun experience and to get a tree this Christmas!

The four farms mentioned above are just a small sampling of the family fun that can be had on the Delaware Agritourism Trail.
