You can now fly directly into Delaware again!
Frontier Airlines recently announced that flights between Wilmington-New Castle Airport (ILG) to Orlando (Florida) International Airport (MCO) would resume February 11, 2021. This also opens up connecting service to and from many of Denver-based airline’s other destinations.
Nonstop flights are available Tuesdays, Thursdays and Sundays. Airfare is as low as $37 roundtrip per person. An 180-seat Airbus A320 transports passengers from point A to point B, and the flight time is two and a half hours.
This is great news for visitors to Delaware and, of course, residents as this marks the return of commercial flights to Delaware. Previously, those who wanted to fly to the First State had to rely on Philadelphia International Airport or one of the three international airports in the Baltimore/Washington area.

Why fly in and out of ILG instead of one of the other larger airports?
Here, it’s easy in and easy out. There is only one terminal serving one cairline – Frontier – so there is no waiting in long lines or having to arrive hours early to make a flight.
And parking is just $5 a day! How many other airports can make that claim? Combined with the low-cost airfare, that equates to big savings for passengers.
The airport’s convenient location is another plus. It is located just five miles south of Wilmington, Delaware and the Wilmington Amtrak station, where car rentals are available.
We are happy to welcome Frontier back to Greater Wilmington and the Brandywine Valley.
Frontier last operated flights from the Wilmington-New Castle Airport between July 2013 and June 2015, and the Orlando route was its most popular. The discount airline had originally planned to reinstate service between the two cities in May 2020, but the start date was delayed due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Wait until you see our new and improved airport.
To accommodate the return of commercial service, the airport underwent a $2M renovation. Upgrades include an enhanced security queue for more efficient passenger screening, a new modern ticketing/check-in counter, new gate-area seating, and new passenger information displays. The airport now has the ability to handle more than one aircraft at a time should Frontier increase service or should another airline join the mix.
COVID-19 precautions are in place.
Health safety is paramount to Frontier and the airport. Masks must be worn by passengers for the duration of the flight. Temperature screenings of passengers and crew before boarding are mandatory, and passengers must sign an acknowledgement that they haven’t been around a COVID-positive person for 14 days. Frontier is also using disinfectant foggers and air filtration systems to fight the spread of COVID-19.
