The Greater Wilmington Convention & Visitors Bureau will host the Fourth Annual FAM/Dine Around on February 26 and 27, 2011. More than 40 Group Tour Operators and Meeting Planners are expected to participate in the two day event which is designed to introduce them to area attractions and facilities.
Esther Lovlie, Director of Marketing & Sales at GWCVB, points out that this will be the first time both Group Tour Operators and Meeting Planners will participate in the FAM/Dine Around. Lovlie is hoping to attract the attention of several Group Tour organizations that specialize in international travel and hopes to capitalize on Philadelphia's international consumer marketing campaign which is designed to increase foreign visitation. In Lovlie's words..."We can ride on their coat tails."
According to Lovlie, "the goal of the FAM/Dine Around is to introduce Group Tour Operators and Meeting Planners to our area in a very personalized way so that they can truly experience its rich and unique historic diversity. It's an ideal way to showcase our area and its assets.
This year's FAM/Dine Around will be themed around the du Pont Family and their Legacy. The event will begin with a Marketplace Showcase and Reception at the host hotel. Participants will then be transported via motor coach to an area attraction for dinner and then shuttled to another attraction to enjoy dessert, wine pairings and coffee before returning to the hotel. Sunday will begin with breakfast at an area restaurant followed by a private tour of another area attraction, a site visit to a local hotel followed by a special luncheon in another hotel. Participants will then be shuttled to the Amtrak Station or returned to the host hotel where they can pick up their cars.
