FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Greater Wilmington Convention & Visitors Bureau is proud to announce the release of its new 2011/2012 Annual Visitors Guide. The annual Guide is a valuable resource for residents as well as tourists, and provides plenty of information about local attractions, places to go and things to enjoy. Copies of the guide can be obtained at the Visitor Center in Downtown Wilmington as well as downloaded or requested via postal service through the Greater Wilmington Convention & Visitors Bureau's official website - www.VisitWilmingtonDE.com.

New to this year's Visitors Guide is the use of Quick Response Codes or QR codes as they are often termed. The QR codes have been inserted on the cover and introductory sections of the guide. Using a Smart Phone equipped with an appropriate QR code app, readers can scan the codes to see an exclusive Welcome Video featuring Delaware Governor Jack Markell, New Castle County Executive Paul Clark and City of Wilmington Mayor James Baker. Similarly, codes in each topical section of the guide direct readers to videos hosted by Halsey Spruance, Executive Director of the Delaware Museum of Natural History, Geoff Halfpenny, Executive Director of Hagley Museum & Library, and Hillary Holland, Public Relations Manager at Brandywine River Museum. Each host shares his or her perspective within their area of expertise - Mighty Museums of Delaware, the du Pont family history and contributions to the area and the Wyeth family story and exceptional art collections - providing a unique, behind the scenes viewpoint. "Most everything you do or create these days has to have an interactive or digital component," says Scott Ciancio, Director of Marketing with the GWCVB. "Using QR codes allows us to do just that."

In conjunction with the debut of the new Visitor Guide, Greater Wilmington Convention & Visitors Bureau has also optimized its website, www.VisitWilmingtonDE.com, for platform specific mobile web browsing. Now residents and visitors alike can access the website while on the go. Visitors to the mobile site will find everything from comprehensive dining choices, festivals and fundraising events to museum exhibitions, theatrical performances and all the latest community events and happenings.

For more information or to obtain a copy of the Visitor Guide, go to www.VisitWilmingtonDE.com or call (302) 295-2212.
