FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
WILMINGTON, Delaware – Greater Wilmington, named one of Condé Nast Traveler’s “23 Best Places to Go in the U.S. 2023,” is now being featured on an Emmy Award-nominated PBS travel show.
Northern Delaware is the focus of the season finale of Travels with Darley, now celebrating its 10th season on television. The new season, sponsored in part by the Greater Wilmington Convention and Visitors Bureau, started airing on PBS affiliate stations throughout the country this month. It will air locally on NJTV Sunday, March 12 at 2:30 p.m. and stream starting March 1s through Ovation TV’s JOURNY.
The episode features Northern Delaware’s rich history, culture and dining scene as told by the members of Greater Wilmington’s local tourism community that know it best.
“Bring your appetite for food, history and adventure if you’re visiting the Wilmington area!,” Darley said. “From burrata pop tarts at Bardea to the colonial architecture in New Castle, we found lots of travel gems where local guides made the visit fun, educational and memorable. Everything we experience in the episode is something that viewers can recreate, making for a diverse itinerary.”
Darley dives into American history, tracing her Swedish heritage at the Old Swedes Church and leads viewers through the historic du Pont estates. She strolls the streets of Historic New Castle, rides the JAM Trail, tours Fort Delaware, takes a walk down Wilmington’s Market Street, and visits the home of Delaware’s Tall Ship, the Kalmar Nyckel. The travel host also samples the food and drink at a number of locally owned restaurants, cafes and breweries.
