Westin Hotel Riverfront
One of the most exciting developments is the decision to build the new Westin Hotel in the City of Wilmington's revitalized Riverfront immediately off Interstate-95 and less than one mile from the Amtrak Train Station. Ground was broken in July and the hotel is expected to be fully operational by early 2014. The hotel is being constructed on property adjacent to the Chase Center, the city's largest multi-purpose event facility with 87,000 square feet of flexible meeting space and plenty of free parking.
The 10-story, LEED certified, full-service hotel is budgeted at $37 million. Buccini/Pollin is coordinating the construction and PM Hospitality Strategies will operate the hotel. All 180 rooms and suites will be equipped with 42" flat panel, high definition televisions, oversized work stations, high speed internet access, laptop-safes and spa-inspired bathrooms. The hotel itself will have 2,000 square feet of flexible function space including a ballroom suitable for meetings or events with up to 200 guests. Other amenities include a permanent board room, hospitality suite, Law Center, Business Center, fitness center, oversized indoor pool and upscale restaurant and bar. http://www.westinwilmington.com/
