Subject: Greater Wilmington CVB Provides One-Stop Shopping
and a Transportation Incentive for Meeting Planners
Greater Wilmington Convention & Visitors Bureau provides one-stop shopping for Meeting Planners. According to Sara Garnett, Director of Sales at GWCVB, "We can facilitate the entire process for a meeting planner. Whether it's an RFP, a comprehensive list of hotels and meeting spaces, attractions and business services, contacts in the area or a site visit that is needed, we have all the information and can make all the arrangements. We can set up an agenda and arrange tours for attendees during their free time. We can even put together an itinerary for their spouses."
GWCVB also offers a Transportation Incentive to planners booking a minimum of 100 room nights in a member hotel in New Castle County. A total of $20,000 is available on a first come, first serve basis. The response to this program has been overwhelmingly positive and funds for Fiscal Year 2013 have already been committed. GWCVB is currently accepting applications for Fiscal Year 2014. More information about this Transportation Incentive is available at www.VisitWilmingtonDE.com.
The Transportation Incentive contributed to the success of the 46th Northeast Fellowship Conference held in Wilmington in May, 2012. Garnett observed that "...several of the attendees would not have been able to participate in the conference if they had to pay for their own transportation."
Garnett goes on to say that "The International Thunderbird Club chose Wilmington for their conference this summer, 2012 because of our Transportation Incentive. Their week-long conference included a mix of meetings and site seeing and the Club spent three days touring area attractions using our incentive."
