Subject: Full Service Hotel Under Construction in Wilmington
Construction has begun on the Westin Wilmington Riverfront which is scheduled to open in early 2014. The full-service hotel is being built in Wilmington, Delaware's revitalized Riverfront on property adjacent to the Chase Center on the Riverfront, the city's largest, multi-purpose event facility with 87,000 square feet of flexible meeting space and plenty of free parking outside. The hotel and the Chase Center are right off Interstate-95 and less than one mile from the Wilmington Amtrak Station.
The 10-story, LEED certified, full-service hotel is budgeted at $37million. Buccini/Pollin is coordinating the construction and PM Hospitality Strategies will operate the hotel. All 180 rooms and suites will be equipped with 42" flat panel, high definition televisions, oversized work stations, high speed internet access, laptop-safes and spa-inspired bathrooms. In addition, the hotel will feature 2,000 square feet of flexible function space including a ballroom suitable for meetings or events with up to 200 guests. A state-of-the-art IMAX Theatre is also under construction in Wilmington's Riverfront and will be operational by the end of November. The $20 million dollar Penn Cinema IMAX Riverfront will feature 15 full stadium seating auditoriums including an IMAX theater with a 50 foot x 75 foot screen.
