Taste of Newark

Rivertowns Ride & Festival

This one-day community festival and cycling event is held simultaneously in two of Delaware's waterfront towns:  Delaware City and Historic New Castle.  The cycling event along the Route 9 Corridor will appeal to both professional and competitive cyclists and recreational bikers.  Cycling time trials start at 11AM from Historic New Castle to Delaware City and the recreational bike rides begin at 12 Noon.  A craft beer festival is scheduled in Delaware City's Battery Park and a family festival is scheduled on the Green in Historic New Castle with entertainment for all ages at both locations.  For more information, go to www.rivertownsfestival.com.

Vendemmia Wine Festival

This festival is Wilmington's biggest fall party.  Over 3,000 wine enthusiasts are expected to gather in Tubman-Garrett Park on the Wilmington Riverfront to celebrate the Harvest of the Grapes.  From 2:00PM to 6:00PM, sample the finest wines from every region in Italy and enjoy delicacies prepared by the area's best restaurants and bakeries.  The festivities include four hours of live music, homemade wine and gravy contests, a silent auction and a chance to win a trip for two to Italy.  Advance tickets are $50.00 and can be purchased on line; tickets at the gate are $60.00.  For more information, go to www.societadavinci.com or www.visitwilmingtonde.com.

Chrysanthemum Festival
(October 31-November 20, 2013)
Chrysanthemums take center stage at Longwood Gardens.  More than 200,000 blooming chrysanthemums are arranged in amazing configurations inside the four-acre indoor Conservatory.   Of particular note is the magnificent Thousand Bloom Mum with more than 1,100 perfect yellow blooms.  Outside, chrysanthemums, gourds and giant pumpkins decorate the grounds.  For more information, go to www.longwoodgardens.org or www.visitwilmingtonde.com.

Wilmington Beer Week
