Vintage Atlantic Wine Region

Vintage Atlantic Wine RegionSip, savor and stay inside the east coast's newest wine destination. The VINTAGE ATLANTIC WINE REGION stretches from the Brandywine Valley in Southeastern Pennsylvania down to the eastern shore of Maryland, and east across southern Delaware to Cape May and the Jersey Shore. It encompasses more than than 50 wineries, some newly opened, some with decades of experience, spread over six wine trails in four different states.

The French wine magazine Gilbert & Gaillard once compared the geography of the Delaware Valley to Bordeaux. Both regions share the same soil of gravel and loam, with layers of clay and sand allowing for good drainage and for vine roots to reach lower layers of soil. They share the same Atlantic climates, mellowed by the rivers that flow through them.

And now, they share great wines - wines that have, in some competitions, beaten their European counterparts in blind tasting events.

There are tasting rooms on the BRANDYWINE VALLEY WINE TRAIL that are just minutes away from the gate of LONGWOOD GARDENS and other attractions. Dozens of wineries are located within a short drive of WILMINGTON. For a complete list of local wineries, and for information on events and trails, visit VINTAGE ATLANTIC WINE REGION.
