Professional Sports

With young talent in the game and affordable family pricing in the stands, minor league teams can offer the best of professional sports at a fraction of the price. Delaware’s two teams, the WILMINGTON BLUE ROCKS and the DELAWARE 87ERS, are no exception.

The Blue Rocks play in Frawley Stadium on the WILMINGTON RIVERFRONT. A Single-A affiliate of the Kansas City Royals and member of the Carolina League, the Blue Rocks are supported by the huggable Rocky Bullwinkle and the truly unique Mister Celery, a green, stalky, much-beloved mascot who only appearances after home runs. Crab fries, cheesesteaks and local brews are available at concessions.

The Delaware 87ers play at the Bob Carpenter Center at the UNIVERSITY OF DELAWARE. Affiliated with the Philadelphia 76ers, the team began its first season in 2013 with promotions like Free Throw Fridays (where fans 13 and under can shoot on the court) and popular Star Wars nights.

And, just south of Wilmington, visitors will find professional thoroughbred horse racing six months out of the year along with simulcast racing at CASINO AT DELAWARE PARK.
