On Wednesday, May 13, 2015, Wilmington, Delaware Mayor Dennis P. Williams joined Martin Hageman, Executive Director of Downtown Visions, to officially kick off Summer in the Square, a lunchtime concert series and farmers market held in Rodney Square. Summer in the Square will feature musical entertainment and up to 60 vendors selling food, plants, flowers, and other goods every Wednesday May 6th through October 14th, 2015 rain or shine from 10:00 AM to 2:00 PM (except for June 17th during the DuPont Clifford Brown Jazz Festival).

"Summer in the Square will bring a new vibrancy to downtown and serve as a relaxing destination to enjoy good food and entertainment in the City of Wilmington," said Mayor Dennis P. Williams. "Now, residents, members of the business community and visitors are able to experience different festivals and lunchtime concerts right in the heart of our city."

In addition to the musical entertainment and live performances, Summer in the Square will provide local residents, visitors and employees with an outdoor dining experience in the center of downtown Wilmington. Monday through Friday at lunchtime, the lunchtime concert series and farmer's market will offer a rotating group of food vendors and shaded picnic tables through the summer months.

"Summer in the Square is an important partnership between the City of Wilmington, Downtown Visions, the Grand Opera House and the Wilmington Library. We believe this effort will add new energy and excitement and show that the transformation of our City is real and ongoing," said Mr. Hageman.

Summer in the Square will take place every day in Rodney Square from 11:00 a.m. until 2:00 p.m. For more information on Summer in the Square, please go to downtownvisions.org.
