Last year, the Wilmington Blue Rocks drew 284,701 fans to Frawley Stadium and averaged more than 4,400 patrons per game. The team will kick off the 2015 season on April 9th in Myrtle Beach, and will host the home opener on Thursday, April 16, 2015 at 6:35 p.m. against Baltimore Orioles affiliate the Frederick Keys.

On Thursday, February 5, Wilmington, Delaware Mayor Mayor Dennis P. Williams joined Wilmington Blue Rocks General Manager, Chris Kemple, and Kansas City Royals Director of Minor League Operations, Ronnie Richardson, to welcome Blue Rocks new team manager, Brian Buchanan, to Frawley Stadium and the City of Wilmington.

"The Wilmington Blue Rocks have a rich tradition here in Wilmington, and the fan base only continues to grow with the addition of new entertainment and dining options along the Riverfront," said Mayor Williams. "As the team helped develop Major League stars like Johnny Damon, Carlos Beltran and Mike Sweeny, I'm excited to welcome Mr. Buchanan to the Blue Rocks organization, where he will hopefully build upon the team's great legacy."

Buchanan will serve as the Blue Rocks' 13th manager in the modern history of the organization. Prior to joining Wilmington's Carolina league team, Buchanan spent the previous three seasons managing the Kansas City Royals' Low-A affiliate, and also brings professional experience with seven seasons at the Major League level.

"Our biggest goal is to just make sure the players are doing it the right way. I want them to play hard, I want them to just compete, that's the only thing. Win or lose, if you go out and compete for the season or for that at-bat or for that pitch, that's the name of the game; being competitive and competing. That's all we can ask for," said Buchanan.

The Wilmington Blue Rocks are a Class-A affiliate of Major League Baseball's Kansas City Royals. You can view their complete 2015 schedule here.
