January Brings New Business to Wilmington, Delaware and a New Rink
to theRiverfront

Few sights to behold are quite as majestic as the Wilmington, Delaware Riverfront in winter. The trees surrounding the bustling riverfront add whimsy to the frosty scene. Snow flurries, icicles, string lights, and frozen waters give the city streets a feel comparable to walking inside of a snow globe. Childhood memories are woven into every corner here and this January, the nostalgia gets even more of a boost as the Wilmington Riverfront introduces an elaborate outdoor ice skating rink to stand frozen beside a brand new Starbucks café and the multitude of upscale housing communities situated along the river's edge.

The Horizon Riverfront Rink

Wilmington, Delaware residents have something to celebrate all winter long, or at least well after the holidays have come and gone. The Horizon Riverfront Rink, a $350,000 marvel, brings with it a sense of style, community and tradition. Just how traditional is ice skating? This pastime has existed for centuries and prior to being considered a sport, a means of having good natured family fun, or a fitness activity; it was actually used as a form of transit.

The Times May Have Changed, but Wilmington Values Live On

308 Justison Street, the location of the city's latest famed addition, will now feature family-oriented skating Monday through Thursday from 4 pm until 9 pm, Fridays from 4 pm until 10 pm, Saturdays from 11 am until 10 pm, and Sundays between the hours of 11 am and 9 pm. This treasured riverfront feature will be made available to the public at the amazing rate of just $8 per person and $5 for skaters 12 and younger. It will remain open, surrounded by crowds and concessions, until the end of February. Riverfront residents with tiny tots are highly encouraged to take advantage of this epic downtown addition and partake in the merriment of outdoor ice skating. The rink itself, which will be donning twinkling lights and filling the air with festive music, can hold approximately 350 ice skaters. Spectators are also welcome.
