I have been a fan of the Wilmington Drama League for years. In fact, it is one of the places that introduced me to theatre over 35 years ago and is still a place I go to today to see family (brother-in-law and nieces) and friends perform.

Aubrey PlazaThis unassuming little theatre on the north side of the city is home to a community of thespians, young and old, that have a passion for performing and entertaining - and the Wilmington Drama League is their outlet. Alumni of the Wilmington Drama League include Aubrey Plaza ("Parks and Recreation") and John Gallagher Jr. ("The Newsroom")

The cozy theatre reminds me of a grade school auditorium, no high-tech here; just hard working volunteers that make the theatre go. Often the show's cast does double or triple duty as costume designers, prop makers, marketers and more.

The WDL has performances nearly year-round, so there's something for everyone. From productions of Broadway classics to weekend Pillow Plays designed for children, the Wilmington Drama League offers bang for your buck and not a bad seat in the house.

WDL Big the MusicalThe holiday season is always my favorite time of the year to take in a show, it's become sort of a family tradition. Last year it was Miracle on 34th Street and for 2014 the holiday season it's Big, the Musical, December 12-28. We like to gather up the family and make a night of it - Aunts, Uncles, Cousins, Nieces, Nephews and all - the more the merrier. Stick around after the show and you can even chat with the cast, laugh and make new friends. Plus somebody is bound to be heading out for a post-show snack and night cap!

Enjoy the show!
