This year, the DuPont Clifford Brown Jazz Festival will celebrate its 27th anniversary and will take place from Friday, June 13 through Saturday, June 20, 2015.

The DuPont Clifford Brown Jazz Festival is recognized for bringing world-class artists to perform in downtown Wilmington, Delaware and has received notoriety as one of the largest free music festivals in the region. The City looks to continue this rich tradition in honor of Wilmington's local jazz legend, Clifford Brown.

"The DuPont Clifford Brown Jazz Festival drives thousands of people to our downtown to experience Wilmington's performing arts culture,"said Mayor Dennis P. Williams. "Wilmington is excited to celebrate the 27th anniversary of the festival and I hope the community gets involved and enjoys all of the many activities the festival has to offer."

This year, the DuPont Clifford Brown Jazz Festival will feature an opening event and three receptions along with the traditional weekly festival main stage concert performances. The festival kick-off begins with the Cityfest-sponsored Thank GOD for Jazz event on June 13, from 7 to 9pm at the Delaware Theatre Company, located on the Wilmington Riverfront. The event will feature performances by Aaron Graves, Tony Williams, Fostina Dixon, Steve Hare, Dana Sorey, Mark Mitchell, Raq Bey Haq, Tony Smith, Wayne Morgan, Cedric Napoleon, Glenn Williams, with more to be announced. Tickets for Thank GOD for Jazz are $15 and can be purchased by calling BDG Enterprises at (302) 562-3706.

Main stage performances will begin Tuesday June 16 at 6pm in Rodney Square, located in the heart of downtown Wilmington, and will feature The Jackie Brown Jazz Band and The Clifford Brown Jazz Trumpet Consortium. The festival continues on Wednesday, June 17 at 6pm with the jazzy sounds of Denise Montana, along with The Clifford Brown Tribute Big Band, featuring Ray Drummond, Jason Marsalis, Jermey Pelt, Steve Turre, Jason Curray, Jason Marshall and Daniel Burkheimer.

On Thursday, June 18 at 6pm, the Tito Puente, Jr. Orchestra and the Edgardo Cintron & The Cintron Band will perform. For the second year, immediately following the main stage performances, Cityfest and Delmarva Power will host Sax in the City, a ticketed afterparty in the Wilmington Library. Sax in the City will feature two floors of live music, entertainment, food and drink tastings. General admission to Sax in the City is $25 and all proceeds will benefit Cityfest, a non-profit organization that contributes to arts and cultural programs in the City of Wilmington through the Mayor's Office of Cultural Affairs. Friday, June 19 will showcase an exciting line-up of jazz and soul for festival goers, beginning with an energetic performance by classically trained clarinet player John "Sax"Williams, who has also mastered the saxophone, flute, oboe and basso. The evening's headliner will be the acclaimed soul singer Leela James.

Friday's fun continues with the Silver Trumpet Block Party, which returns for a third year. Taking place in the heart of downtown Wilmington on Market Street, between 8th and 10th Streets, the block party will begin immediately following the final main stage performance. The Silver Trumpet Block Party offers live music, refreshments and an energetic atmosphere. This event will be free and open to the public.

Saturday, June 20 will be the week's longest festival day. Main stage performances begin at 2pm and feature performances by the legendary Norman Conners, Pieces of a Dream, and the sounds of Jeff Lorber Fusion with Eric Marienthal, Chuck Loeb, Jimmy Haslip and Khari Parker.

Closing the 2015 DuPont Clifford Brown Jazz Festival will be The Clifford Brown Closeout, an outdoor afterparty that will take place immediately following the Saturday night main stage performances. Located on 10th Street, between Orange and Tatnall Streets, the afterparty is located just one block from Rodney Square and the main stage performances. The Clifford Brown Closeout will also feature live music, refreshments and an energetic atmosphere. This event will be free and open to the public.

The four-day main stage performances during the jazz festival, in addition to Sax in the City, the Silver Trumpet Block Party, and the Clifford Brown Closeout, will provide attendees theopportunity to fellowship and enjoy exciting live entertainment in downtown Wilmington.
