The nation's oldest continuously operating house of worship is the latest addition to the First State National Historical Park in Delaware. Visitors from around the world seek out Old Swedes Church to experience and explore the only surviving structure from the first Swedish settlement along the banks of the Christina River. This National Historic Landmark is now open for the season. Dating from 1698, Old Swedes Church, the 1690 Hendrickson House Museum, and the 1638 Burial Ground are open for tours Wednesday through Friday, 1-4 pm and Saturdays 10 am-4 pm. Learn about the Swedish settlers who arrived on the banks of the Christina River in 1638 to establish the Colony of New Sweden; experience life in a typical Colonial Swedish farm house and view the graves of some of Delaware’s most notable citizens and discover their stories. Reservations requested: Call 302-652-5629; email: programs@oldswedes.org. Adults $5; children $2. Tours free for members. Not a member? Join here: http://oldswedes.org/donations-and-memberships/
