For twenty-seven years (1883-1911), Howard Pyle, the father of the Brandywine tradition of art painted, wrote, and taught in the studio that he had built at 1305 N. Franklin Street in Wilmington, Delaware. Tour this one-of-a-kind studio, a place where the Golden Age of Illustration had its beginnings and where Howard Pyle, one of the most famous illustrators of his day, taught N.C. Wyeth, Frank Schoonover, and Harvey Dunn. Currently the Studio Group participates in the City's "Art on the Town", offering free exhibits and refreshments the first Friday of every month (except January, July and August). Stand-alone tours can be scheduled by appointment. Donations accepted.
