This 19th century grand mansion was built by Delaware and US Statesman John Middleton Clayton between 1845 and 1847. An impressive example of Greek revival style, it’s named to reflect the brilliant success in the Battle of Buena Vista during the Mexican-American War by the illustrious hero and future President of the United States, Major General Zachary Taylor.
This historic property surrounded by acres of farmland, landscaped grounds and walking trails, and is only 4 miles from Historic New Castle, making it the perfect picnic or box lunch location for group tours coming to the area.
