During the years before Shelly Reuben‘s first mystery was published, she lived a life as exciting and dramatic as those of the characters in "The Best of Everything." In this 1959 movie, three ambitious Manhattan women fall and out of love, form loyal friendships, contend with office politics, and dread that their dreams of a fulfilling career will be cut short by marriage, children, and regret.

Inspired by Mac Conner’s illustrations in THE ORIGINAL MAD MAN exhibition at the Delaware Art Museum, Reuben will talk about working on Madison Avenue, and draw happy comparisons between Conner’s imagery and the lifestyle, fashion, and careers of women featured in the film. FREE.
