Summer Dance Workshops at Delaware Dance Company

First Focus Dance Workshops

First Focus workshops are perfect for dancers 10 to 12 years of age who have just begun to have a serious, focused interest in dance training. Dancers must have completed at least two years of dedicated ballet training (DDC Ballet 2/ 2X). Each day will consist of two technique classes. The classes may be both ballet or one ballet and one in an additional style. Similarly, there will be two choreography sessions per day and two pieces will be prepared for the Friday performance. Participants will also have a daily educational class to learn about hair preparation, proper stretching, preparing for pointe work, sewing pointe shoes, good nutrition, proper dance etiquette, and more.

Intensive Workshops

Intensive Dance Workshops will be offered for intermediate level dancers (12-14 yrs, DDC Levels 3/3X) and advanced level dancers (13 yrs and up, DDC Levels 4 through Advanced). Each Workshop day will have two technique classes and two choreography sessions. Dancers will prepare two pieces for performance on Friday evening. DDC Performing Company and Youth Dance Ensemble each have a dedicated week of workshop for members only.

While enrollment in the full workshop is encouraged, participants may choose to register for one class per day, Mon through Thursday, at the Class Only rate.  

All workshops meet from 10:00 AM to 4:30 PM at the DDC studios in Newark. Participants may be dropped off as early at 8:30 am and picked up as late 5:30 pm. All dancers younger than 12 years must be signed in and out. Pick up on Friday will be after the performance.
