Andrew Makepeace Ladd III and Melissa Gardner have exchanged hundreds of letters for over fifty years. Theirs is a relationship that spans childhood crushes, boarding schools, colleges, a war, marriages, divorces, and an assortment of personal demons. Their relationship survives, changes and deepens as they age. They are as close as two souls can be, communicating almost exclusively through hand-written correspondence.
