Each program will spotlight something new and includes admission to the Marshall Steam Museum. The Marshall Patents: Making Fiber Continuously with Bob Wilhelm Join Auburn Heights volunteer Bob Wilhelm share his research on the paper and fiber history of the Marshall family from the mid-1800s until the formation of National Fibre & Insulation Company in the early 1900s. We’ll start by investigating the Marshall paper business and how Israel Marshall (grandfather to Tom Marshall) perfected their papers that were used in the making of vulcanized fibre in Wilmington. Then we will explore how Israel transformed single sheet fiber making machinery into a patented continuous process producing a superior fibre by the roll. Attendees will be able to handle vulcanized fibre samples and stay tuned for a website component to this program.
