The Delaware History Makers Award recognizes individuals who have made extraordinary and lasting contributions to the quality of life in Delaware, our nation, or the world. In honor of the tenth year, the award recognizes the accomplishments of Delaware businesses that have weathered uncertainty and flourished in times of economic growth, through hard work and innovative business practices. The Society is pleased to honor the state’s Court of Chancery, established in 1792, and Corporation Service Company, founded in 1899. These two organizations are deeply rooted in Delaware, and their histories exemplify a timeless yet evolving arbiter of business in the First State and in the nation.
The theme for the 2017 program is Delaware Business's Tradition of Innovation and Success.
History has been shaped by thousands of entrepreneurs and inventors whose businesses and products succeeded so well over many years that they generated more jobs, support businesses, and suppliers. In Delaware, inventors have given us life-changing products and innovative solutions to age-old problems. This legacy of innovation and business success has fostered a thriving community making Delaware an especially enjoyable place live, work, and to raise a family. The Delaware History Makers Award recognizes the inspiration, innovation, and hard work required to make a successful business and community partner.
