Caldera, an exhibition of fused glass bowls by Marcie I. Tauber, will be on view in the Mezzanine Gallery from April 7-28, 2017. An opening reception to meet the artist will be held on Friday, April 7 from 5-7 p.m.

Tauber’s current work focuses primarily on deep bowls whose forms are inspired by cauldron-like depressions created by the inward collapse of a volcano known as a caldera. In her studio, patterned glass is slumped (or collapsed) into successively deeper molds in a hot kiln. The result is a large cauldron-like bowl, or “caldera.” This form allows Tauber to tell a story on both the inside and outside surfaces of the bowl, and allows light to play an important part in the presentation.

The Mezzanine Gallery, open weekdays from 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., is located in the Carvel State Office Building, 820 N. French Street, Wilmington. Please note that the Gallery will be closed on Friday, April 14.
