The Read House & Gardens is a National Historic Landmark in Old New Castle, DE, owned and operated by the Delaware Historical Society. Built between 1797 and 1894, the Read House remains one of the most spectacular Federal-period mansions in America. #INSPO, a new exhibition opening on March 27th, utilizes a combination of old magazines, books, advertisements, fashion catalogues, and family scrapbooks and five all-new photo shoots to celebrate the Read House's long history as a source of inspiration. Images of the Read House's landmark interiors are joined by miniature models of rooms in other historic houses up and down the East Coast crafted by Philadelphia-area artist Peter Kendall. Every generation sees an old house through new sets of eyes, and together these renderings of historic interiors shed light on how we go about capturing those visions.
The opening reception is scheduled on March 27th at 7:00 PM. Tickets for members and students are $15.00; tickets for non-members are $17.00. All tickets purchased at the door are $5.00 higher
