On Saturday, July 4, the Delaware 250 Fourth of July Celebration will transform the Wilmington Riverfront into a day-long festival packed with live music, family activities, history, food, drinks, fireworks, and patriotic pride. Stretching from Tubman-Garrett Park to Dravo Plaza, this free celebration is shaping up to be one of the largest and most exciting Independence Day events Delaware has ever seen. 

And with America turning 250, this isn't just another Fourth of July—it's a once-in-a-generation celebration.

Three Entertainment Zones. Endless Ways to Celebrate.   

The festivities kick off at 2 p.m. and continue through a spectacular fireworks finale at 9:30 p.m. Throughout the day, visitors can explore three unique entertainment districts, each offering its own mix of activities, performances, and experiences. 

Dravo Plaza   

The Riverfront's eastern end will be buzzing with activity throughout the day. Tour Delaware's beloved tall ship, the Kalmar Nyckel, browse locally made goods in the Delaware Made Vendor Village, enjoy live entertainment from DJ Mega Skills, and relax in the Dravo Plaza Beer Garden. Families can snap photos with a tethered hot-air balloon while roaming performers and street entertainers bring surprises around every corner. 

Iron Hill – Taco Grande Festival Zone   

Looking for live music and family fun? This is your stop. The main stage will feature performances from Lower Case Blues Band and Kristen & The Noise, while kids can enjoy rides, games, and activities throughout the afternoon. History lovers won't want to miss the Honor Tent, an immersive storytelling experience designed to bring America's past to life in a memorable way. Grab a seat in the guest tent, enjoy a drink from the beer garden hosted by Iron Hill Brewery, Taco Grande, and Big Fish, and take advantage of free admission at the Delaware Children's Museum, which will offer special indoor and outdoor programming throughout the day. 

Tubman-Garrett Park   

As the evening approaches, all eyes will turn toward Tubman-Garrett Park. The Clifford Brown Jazz Orchestra will set the tone before the Delaware Symphony Orchestra takes the stage around 7:30 p.m. for a patriotic performance leading into the evening's grand finale. Food trucks, family activities, beer gardens, and roaming entertainers will keep the energy high all day long. 

The Delaware Symphony and Fireworks Finale   

The emotional centerpiece of the celebration begins with a live performance by the Delaware Symphony Orchestra. As the sun sets over the Christina River, the orchestra will perform patriotic favorites while video walls throughout the festival broadcast the performance live across the Riverfront. Then, at approximately 9:30 p.m., the sky above Wilmington will erupt in a spectacular fireworks display celebrating America's 250th birthday. 

It's the kind of moment that will have everyone reaching for their phones and talking about it long after the final burst lights up the night.

Watching the World Cup? You Can Do That Too.   

As if fireworks, live music, beer gardens, and a symphony weren't enough, FIFA World Cup matches will also be taking place throughout the day. Several Riverfront restaurants and venues will be showing the matches, allowing visitors to seamlessly move between soccer and celebration.

Plan Ahead   

While admission is free, the event footprint will be secured with entry checkpoints and safety screenings. Visitors should leave backpacks, scooters, bicycles, and other prohibited items at home to help keep entry lines moving smoothly. Free parking will be available throughout the Riverfront, with additional parking provided at Delaware Technical Community College, Chase Fieldhouse, and Downtown Visions lots. 

Street closures will begin throughout the day, so arriving early is encouraged.
