Beginning Thanksgiving weekend, the Christina Riverwalk will be completely transformed into a walk-through holiday light display, with trees and light poles wrapped in seasonal décor and other holiday decorations displayed throughout the almost 2-mile boardwalk, better known as... Riverbright Wilmington: Holiday Magic. Beginning at Tubman-Garrett Riverfront Park and spanning to the DuPont Environmental Education Center the area will be lit, offering guests a chance to stroll along the Brandywine and enjoy the festive display for the season.
Riverfront Wilmington has always been one of the centerpieces of the greater Wilmington area during the holiday season, with festive events and activities. This season, the Riverfront Development Corporation of Delaware (RDC) has dramatically increased that presence with the introduction of Riverbright Wilmington and the full lighting of the Riverwalk and its surrounding amenities.
“The RDC is thrilled to launch this dazzling new attraction at the Riverfront during the holiday season. The illumination of the Riverwalk will create a magical winter wonderland for all ages to enjoy” Proclaimed RDC Executive Director Megan McGlinchey. “Coupled with the many special events that are also planned, we know that guests from around the region will make Holiday Magic at Riverbright Wilmington the can’t miss holiday destination!”
The holiday iteration of Riverbright Wilmington will be just one of the seasonal displays along the Riverwalk. Following the holiday season, many of the lights will remain up throughout the year making for the perfect way to update seasonally. Along with that comes another new project from the RDC. Adding to the display, there will also be new lights added to the underpasses of the Amtrak bridges that connect Riverfront Wilmington to the downtown area. This project is in part funded by a U.S. Economic Development Administration grant through the Delaware Division of Small Business, designed to increase tourism!

Santa will be making an appearance Saturday, December 10th from 4-6pm at the Hare Pavilion on the Riverwalk located behind Constitution Yards Beer Garden. If you thought Santa Claus would miss this new and exciting venture on the Riverwalk you must be crazy! So much so that the jolly elf will be introduced with help from a drum performance from the YMCA Essence Legacy Performing Arts Group Stop by to meet Santa for pictures and be sure to let him know exactly what you want under that tree this year... if you’ve been a good girl or boy that is. While you’re there, please feel free to bring a new, un-wrapped toy for a boy or girl ages 1-8 to support the Neighborhood House Toy Drive! All participants in the toy drive will receive a FREE pass to either the Delaware Children's Museum or Riverwalk Mini Golf! How awesome is that?
