This Mother’s Day give all moms something they’ve been dreaming of... A break!  After a year of being cooped in the house cooking, cleaning, and schooling the kids from home (we’re sure with a smile!) they deserve to get away. This year, treat the mother figures in your life to a quick escape to visit Greater Wilmington and the Brandywine Valley.

Give Mom the gift of...

Two nights away with a chance to visit three historic sites for FREE!

Exploration aboard the Kalmar Nyckel!

Celebrate Mother’s Day with a visit to the Wilmington Riverfront to see KALMAR NYCKEL, The Tall Ship of Delaware, and hear the ship’s captain and crew share stories from a dockside tent behind the Iron Hill Brewery. Mothers and mother figures alike will receive a gorgeous fresh-cut carnation courtesy of Kenny Family ShopRite Stores. We regret no tours are available due to COVID-19. This is another great way to have safe outdoor fun!

A train ride on the Wilmington and Western Railroad!

Take mom for a wild ride through the gorgeous spring colors of Greater Wilmington’s Red Clay Valley on the Wilmington and Western Railroad. Depart from Greenbank Railroad Station and take a leisurely 1½-hour round-trip ride to the Mt. Cuba Picnic Grove. Pack a lunch to enjoy during the ½-hour layover.

Peace and quiet at Historic New Castle’s May Market!

This time-honored tradition is perfect for the outdoorsy mom or the one wanting to play around with dynamic visuals of gorgeous flowers in her yard (and on her Instagram account). The May Market in Historic New Castle began in 1942 and has evolved throughout the years. Find unexpected treats and bargains!  The Market is open Friday, May 7th and Saturday, May 8th. Vegetable plants, houseplants, handmade quilts, and more are waiting to be discovered. This lovely day out is COVID safe, and state approved. Free gardening advice will also be available.

Flowers galore with the Blooms of Longwood Gardens!

Is your mom a garden person? If not, a quick trip to Longwood Gardens would probably change their mind. This gorgeous garden (the jewel of America’s Garden Capital) features 1,100 acres of meadows, gardens, and woodlands including a 4-acre Conservatory. It’s the perfect stop to add to any #VisitWilm getaway.

A spa day!

Gift mom a day of rest and relaxation. Currie Hair, Skin and Nails recently opened a salon inside the DuPont Building alongside the HOTEL DU PONT. Make moms feel special from their heads to their toes with a facial, massage or even a pedicure – we recommend “The Stress Breaker” package!

Food! Brunch, Lunch, Dinner and Sweet Treats (dine in and takeout options)

From a served Mother's Day brunch at the Christiana Hilton to grabbing a sweet treat at Spark'd, mom is sure to feel extra special.
