Greater Wilmington’s Mt. Cuba Center, a true hidden gem in the area, is best known for its native plants and tranquil nature settings. Wander through the gardens and find yourself in state of full relaxation. Take a hike through the winding paths and explore the formal and naturalistic gardens of this du Pont mansion. For one particular weekend, however, it’s time to go wild!
The end of April brings a celebration to the Center each year. The early spring wildflowers featured in Mt. Cuba Center’s gardens are special not just for their beauty and iconic nature, but also because their life cycles are so brief. They emerge, bloom, and die back in the few weeks after the ground thaws, and before the leaves of the tree canopy close over the forest floor.
Their short lifespan is cause for celebration while they’re in full bloom! Enjoy the festivities each day of wildflower weekend – April 28th to 30th.
