Have you missed us through COVID-19? Well, Greater Wilmington and the Brandywine Valley have some important updates for you.
As of June 1, 2020, the mandatory 14-day quarantine for out-of-state visitors and the ban on short-term rental units are lifted. This announcement by the State of Delaware is part of the initial phase of a rolling reopening of Delaware’s tourism industry and economy.
Also as of June 1, retail establishments, restaurants and other businesses are able to open at 30 percent of their stated fire capacity. Before you visit your favorite restaurant or shop, call ahead to see if a reservation is required and if there are special protocols you should know before you go.
Visitors and residents alike are still asked to:
- Maintain a social distance of six feet
- Wear face masks when social distancing is difficult to maintain
- Wash or sanitize their hands frequently
- Stay home if they are feeling unwell
- Be kind to one another (there is no precedent for this)
Outdoor gatherings of up to 250 people will be permitted as of June 1 as well. Outdoor gatherings should only be carried out only if there is strict adherence to social distancing and other public health guidance from the Delaware Division of Public Health (DPH) and the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), which are intended to protect the most vulnerable from COVID-19 infection and serious illness.
